Complaint Call Leads to Drug Arrest

On the morning of Sunday, April 4, 2021, the LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a man passed out in the driver seat of a truck, and blocking gas pumps at a business in Olla.

An LPSO Deputy responded to the call and found the man, identified as Codey Wayne Ellis (36 of Tullos), lying back in the driver seat of his vehicle. The deputy smelled an odor of burnt marijuana, to which Ellis advised that he had smoked marijuana the night before. A search was then conducted where a black lock box was found inside the truck that contained suspected synthetic marijuana, a small plastic baggie containing suspected methamphetamine, a small plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana, multiple Xanax pills, and drug paraphernalia.

Ellis was arrested and transported to the LaSalle Parish Jail where he was booked on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of CDS II methamphetamine, possession of CDS IV Xanax, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
