Theft Arrest Made in Olla

On the night of June 20, 2022, an LPSO Deputy, while on patrol in Olla, observed a vehicle stop in the middle of Highway 127 near the entrance of Speedy Mac’s. The Deputy could see the doors on the passenger side being opened and closed and could hear a commotion as if something was being loaded into the back of the vehicle. Once the commotion ended, the Deputy observed the vehicle headed toward the intersection of Highway 127 and Highway 165, while running a stop sign.

As the vehicle went past the Deputy, a dirt bike was observed laid over on its side in the bed. The deputy stopped the vehicle, once it came to a stop, two males exited the passenger side and ran into the woods. The driver, Damichael Le’Sean Perry, 24, of Winnfield exited, and complied.

After further investigation, it was determined that the dirt bike had been stolen from a residence in Olla as the Deputy remembered seeing the bike in the back of its actual owner’s truck earlier in the day. Perry was arrested and transported to the LPSO Jail where he was booked on charges of theft of a motor vehicle, driving under suspension, modified exhaust, and disregard stop sign. Perry would not identify the two other occupants of the vehicle that fled. At press time the case remains under investigation to identify the unknown suspects.
