Jena Pair Arrested for Distribution of Narcotics

On Thursday, September 9, 2021, LPSO Detectives arrested Candess Chapman Newman, 35, and Michael Lyons, 32, both of Jena, on warrants for distribution, after obtaining evidence of illegal narcotics such as methamphetamine and prescription pills being sold from their residence over the past few weeks.

Along with arrest warrants, detectives obtained a search warrant for the home in which Newman and Lyons reside, located at the corner of Carpenter Street and Hickory Street inside Jena. Detectives and Deputies went to the residence, with entry being made inside the home. Detectives encountered Newman and Lyons, who were both arrested without incident.  A search of the home revealed hydrocodone pills, along with items of drug paraphernalia.
 
Candess Chapman Newman was booked on charges of distribution of CDS II methamphetamine, possession of CDS II hydrocodone, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
 
Michael Lyons was booked on charges of 2 counts of distribution of CDS II methamphetamine, distribution of CDS II hydrocodone, possession of CDS II hydrocodone, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
