LPSO K9s Yield Two Narcotic Arrests

On the night of Tuesday, October, 26, 2021, an LPSO K-9 Deputy stopped a vehicle on Hwy 84 in Jena, due to an equipment violation. The Deputy spoke to the driver, who was identified as Summer McGuffee, 43, of Trout. After speaking with McGuffee and observing her actions, the Deputy made the decision to utilize his K-9 partner “Drako” for a search of the vehicle. During the search, K-9 “Drako” gave a positive alert. Deputies began a search of the interior of the vehicle, locating methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. 

Summer McGuffee was arrested and transported to the LPSO Jail and booked on charges of possession of CDS I marijuana, possession of CDS II methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and proper equipment required on vehicle.

In the early morning hours of Sunday, October 24, 2021, an LPSO Deputy stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation on LA Hwy 8, near Stevenson Road. The Deputy spoke to the driver who was identified as James Little, 41, of Jonesville. Due to the subject appearing nervous and sweating profusely, a K-9 Deputy was requested at the traffic stop.  K-9 “Max” was used for a search of the vehicle, which yielded a positive alert. Further search of the vehicle revealed suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a large amount of marijuana.

James Little was arrested and transported to the LaSalle Parish Jail where he was booked on charges of possession of CDS II methamphetamine, possession of CDS I marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, and no tail lamp.
