Traffic Stop Leads to Narcotic Arrest

A routine traffic stop in the Town of Olla on Sunday evening, March 7, 2021, led to the arrest of an Olla man on multiple narcotic charges.

A LaSalle Parish Deputy Sheriff stopped a white van on US Hwy 165 in Olla on Sunday, after observing a traffic violation. The Deputy, along with an Olla Police Officer, spoke to the driver, Charles Estis, 66, of Olla. Due to the behavior of Estis, an LPSO K-9 Deputy was contacted.

K-9 “Drako” was utilized for a search of the vehicle that yielded a positive alert. Deputies then searched the vehicle and located a glass smoking pipe that contained methamphetamine on the floor between the driver and passenger seat.

Estis was arrested and transported to the LaSalle Parish Jail where he was booked on charges of possession of CDS II methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and disobeying stop sign.
