Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrests

On Saturday, May 22, 2021, an LPSO Deputy, with the assistance of an Olla Police Officer, stopped a vehicle on Highway 165 after observing expired plates. The driver was identified as Gary Mitchell, 67, of Olla, and the passenger, Ken Hatten, 48, of Olla.
 
The Deputy was given consent to search the vehicle, during which he located drug paraphernalia that contained suspected methamphetamine. When Mitchell and Hatten were asked who it belonged to, they both denied ownership. Both were placed under arrest and transported to the LaSalle Parish Jail.
 
Gary Mitchell was booked on charges of possession of CDS II methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and expired plate.
 
Ken Hatten was booked on possession of CDS II methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
